William Matthews has been involved in the construction of unique,
one-of-a-kind, homes since 1975. His initial experience
was garnered while working for a custom home builder in
Rhode Island and Vermont.

In 1977 he established and operated his own custom
home building business in Rhode Island before moving to
California in 1980. Upon his arrival in California,
he joined the GAGEANT CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC.,
of Malibu, CA and rose to the position of Vice-President.
During his tenure at GAGEANT, he participated in projects
designed in the style of Modernism.

This experience allowed him to develop a strong sense of
modern contemporary architecture. In addition, he has
constructed small office complexes, industrial spaces,
as well as performing renovations on traditional style homes
and even log cabins. His background also includes
custom millwork and fine furniture creation.

In 1988, WILLIAM A. MATTHEWS COMPANY
was established. William Matthews chose to focus
his efforts toward executing individual projects that
best exemplify the architect’s vision of the
owner’s dream home, whatever the style.
